This page covers two things: getting the Braintrust app into a Google Chat Space, and then adding your hired experts to that Space so the whole team can use them.

Part 1: Add the Braintrust App to a Space

Before any expert can be used in a group Space, the BrainTrust app must be installed in that Space.
1

Open Google Chat

Go to chat.google.com or open Google Chat from Gmail.
2

Open the target Space

Navigate to the group Space where you want to use experts.
3

Open Space settings

Click the Space name at the top to open settings, then go to Apps & integrations.
4

Add BrainTrust

Search for BrainTrust and add it to the Space.
Success: /help returns a response in the group Space, and @BrainTrust is now a mentionable app.
If BrainTrust does not appear in app search, ask your Google Workspace admin to enable it for your organization.

Part 2: Add Your Expert to the Space

Once the app is in the Space, use /add to bring in a specific expert by its email address.
1

Confirm prerequisites

  • You have already hired the expert in DM.
  • The expert has no pending configuration warnings.
  • BrainTrust app is active in the Space (Part 1 above).
2

Run /add in the Space

Type /add followed by the expert’s email address:
/add researcher-bot@yourdomain.com
You should see: "Added researcher-bot to this space."
3

Message the expert

In group Spaces, start prompts with @BrainTrust so the message is routed:
@BrainTrust summarize this week's product updates
Braintrust routes the request to the best matching expert in that Space.

Useful Commands

CommandWhat It Does
/listShows experts currently in the group Space
/add <email>Adds an expert to the group Space
/remove <email>Removes an expert from the group Space
/orchestrator ...Sets routing instructions for multi-expert Spaces

Important Behavior

  • Experts in a group Space run using the credentials of the person who added them.
  • Removing an expert from a group Space does not un-hire it from your DM.
  • Messages without @BrainTrust are not routed to experts.

Using Multiple Experts Together

Improve routing when multiple experts are in the same group Space.
